Yes you can use plywood instead of a box spring for your mattress. Mattresses are typically sold with a box spring which are specially designed to add firmness to the mattress. We have just a mattress and it works great. Plywood instead of boxspring. Box springs don t let the air circulate. Your mattress is going to be fully flush with the box spring.
A platform bed eliminates the need for a box spring because it features built in support in its design. In some cases individuals may find the support inadequate for their needs and may consider adding plywood which is made of several layers of glued together wood to provide more firmness to a bed. Do doctors physicians recommend placing a piece of plywood between your mattress and box spring. Some platform beds use a solid panel foundation that sometimes includes slits to facilitate air flow.
