In the autumn the temperate deciduous forest trees lose their leaves in preparation for winter. A deciduous forest typically has three to four and sometimes five layers of plant growth. Tropical and subtropical forests also have teak trees palm trees and bamboo. Deciduous forest vegetation composed primarily of broad leaved trees that shed all their leaves during one season. This area of the biome has rich soil from decayed leaves twigs moss and animal waste also called litter. A wide variety of insects also live in the deciduous forest.
