The brain has three main parts.
The cerebral peduncle is located at the anterior portion of the midbrain. Is the largest part of the brain and is composed of right and left hemispheres. The other part the peripheral nervous system is made up of nerves and neurons that connect the central nervous system to the body s limbs and organs. Together with the spinal cord brain structure and function helps control the central nervous system the main part of two that make up the human nervous system.
The brain stem consists of midbrain pons and medulla. Midbrain the midbrain also known as the mesencephalon is made up of the tegmentum and tectum. Distinctly human traits including higher thought language and human consciousness as well as the ability to think reason and imagine all originate in the cerebral cortex. The hypothalamus regulates the functions of the organism for example sleep cycles body temperature hunger and mood.
It performs higher functions like interpreting touch vision and hearing as well as speech reasoning emotions learning and fine control of movement. The limbic system is a part of the brain that s involved with emotion long term memory and behavior. One of the most important parts of the brain is the cerebellum located in the brain and its function is to regulate such important aspects of the organism as posture balance and coordination. Basic functions like breathing and sleep are controlled here.

The epithalamus serves as a connection between the limbic system and other parts of the brain. The basal ganglia coordinate messages between multiple. The basal ganglia are a cluster of structures in the center of the brain. It controls functions like body movement hearing vision and eye movement.
The cerebral cortex is the part of the brain that functions to make human beings unique.
