Opening Wall Between Kitchen And Dining Room

The extra height also allows for more natural light to shine into the kitchen and helps make the kitchen feel bigger.
We have opened the wall between the kitchen and dining room to provide more of an open floor plan. The opening to the dining room is higher than the pantry door which allows the focus to be diverted into the dining room. The pantry door is still in view but the lamp and buffet draw your attention away from it. The best thing about the use of half wall as a space definer between the kitchen and the dining room is that it will not erase the open feel in the entire design.
While this process can improve social interaction by removing boundaries it also eliminates some private space in the home which can make it difficult to get a quiet moment alone aside from retreating to a bedroom. By using a single wall to install cabinets and appliances you can keep the rest of the room free for other purpose. Our initial plan was to put two 27 interior french doors in the opening to allow for us to close it off from kids during dinner parties. Remove wall between kitchen and dining room before and after.
In other words by using this home element you do not need to worry that about making the space look smaller or closed. If you want to give your dining and drawing room more space then the kitchen then opting for this narrow layout is the perfect choice. Kitchen plan we looked at multiple layouts click here for details but decided opening up the wall between the two rooms would increase dining space and kitchen space. We had hoped to put an island in the kitchen but after seeing how narrow it would be opted instead to keep the incredibly efficient u shape for the workspace.
