Lennie loses interest and asks george once again about their farm.
At dusk george and slim enter the bunkhouse after a day of work. George and slimdevelop a friendship. George eventually agrees and then the three men muse on what their place will be like. Slim praises lennie for his incredible work ethic which leads george to talk about his past with lennie.
He tries to sneak it into the bunk house under his jacket one time but george forces him to return it to its mother in the barn. He urges candy to shoot the animal.
